Feast of the Presentation of the Lord
At Faith Formation this month, we heard a story about Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to the temple. In that story, we met Anna and Simeon. Well, there is a special feast day on February 2 (40 days after Christmas) that celebrates this story. You can find out more here: Presentation of the Lord

Taking Care of the Earth
It has been almost six years since Pope Francis wrote the letter, Laudato Si, "On Care for Our Common Home". In that letter, the pope explained what needs to be done to make the earth a healthier place to live and preserve it for future generations. Here is a short video about Pope Francis’ letter:

Ways to Protect the Earth
While it is very important for us to do things that help the earth, it is also important for us to pray. We ask God to help us know how to care for creation and each other. Pope Francis wrote a prayer called “A Prayer for Our Earth.” Here is a version for children, made into a beautiful short video:

Epiphany Cake (eaten anytime in January!)
Bake a cake, any flavor, two layer or rectangle. Place a few large, clean coins in the cake before you bake.
Ice the cake with icing tinted gold, green, and purple. Decorate with a variety of candies. The person who receives a piece of cake with a coin is the king or queen of the household for 24 hours.
